Household Hazardous Waste - CESQG

Some communities are concerned about the illegal disposal of hazardous waste from small businesses.  Curbside can help your community reduce this problem by providing a cost effective program for small businesses.

The basic concept is to treat small businesses who generate less than 200 lbs of waste per month as a qualified CESQG.  If your state does not allow for this federal exemption, a variation of the program described here can be implemented.

Here are some common reasons why small businesses do not always properly dispose of their hazardous waste:

  • My quantity is too small
  • The price is too high
  • I can not find a company to manage my waste
  • I do not understand the process, what is or is not hazardous

What regulations?

Of course, a well developed public education campaign can address these issues only if there are resources to direct small businesses to a reliable service company.

Curbside's program is based upon the concept that waste collected from CESQG's can be mixed with waste collected from homes.  And that the CESQG can be collected from when our vehicle is in the area.  This concept reduces both disposal and transportation costs.  There is not quantity too small for Curbside to collect.

Depending upon the support provided by the community i.e., sponsorship, Curbside Inc. will offer a discount to CESQG's in the community.  This discount reflects our lower cost of doing business because the public agency is promoting the program.  This concept does not require any funding from the sponsoring agency for waste disposal.  Participating businesses pay 100% of the cost of transportation and disposal with zero cost to the sponsoring agency.
